Revealing the joys of Eid!

Eid, The joyous moments!

The month of ramadan , the most sacred month for Muslims. Eid, the celebration! when ramadan completes its cycle, we share our happiness with our loved ones and with the people who are less fortunate by doing charity. Indeed this holy month when we fast reveals the magic of being an ordinary human. The fasting month teaches us the virtues of life: self control, patience, perseverance, and prayer.

The celebration starts at the Eid EvE, everyone dines together with joy, dress up nicely, apply henna on hands, share the joyous moments together.

Little joys of Eid, Wearing smiles and beautiful Dresses,
Prayers for the less fortunate and Blessings for Everyone!

Kite Flying Fun........:)

Kite flying is fun thing even today, although its been in the world for centuries. Many countries fly the kites as their cultural thing and many has some symbols and celebration attached to it.Well no doubt its fun :-)
In Pakistan, kite flying is often known as Gudi-Bazi or Patang-bazi. Although kite flying is a popular ritual for the celebration of spring festival known as Jashn-e-Baharaan ( Spring Festival) or Basant.
This festival shows many colors but more specifically yellow and green. People start the preparation so many days before the festival. Kite selling business is at its peak when this festival comes. Girls get excited about what they are going to wear in the festival...usually the case ;-). Moms think what is going to be the delicious menu for the night. Men and boys mostly try to buy a perfect kite and the strings to fly a kite. Actually this festival is a competition too. Flying the kite to its highest and cut the rivals kite and when you cut-loose the rival kite that's where the "dhol" comes in the scene. They beat the drum to show that they got one kite and everybody yells" Woh Katta" ( sliced one). The many you slice ,the better it gets. and you win!  Mostly people decorate their roof tops. This vary day the sky fills up with lots of colorful kites, signifies that life should be full of colors. Some kites go higher , some are so low and some are in between. but competing. That's hope! hope to grow , hope to have better tomorrow. These festivals bring families together as they share their happy moments together.

Kites were basically originated from China, where there is perfect material for making the kite. The perfect silk fabric for sail material and bamboo to give it a framework. It was claimed to be the invention of the 5th century BC , Chinese philosopher Mozi and Lu Ban . Before that there were paper kites too in a very small scale, mostly used to deliver messages. After that it was introduced in India, New Zealand, Europe, Japan, Malaysia and so on. Now a days kite flying is fairly enjoyed in every part of the world. There is an exciting photos of the of 23 huge kite festivals all over the world. Recently there was a huge kite flying festival in Ontario . It was a lovely summer event and was great success. The annual World Kite Festival is held in Malaysia this year 2014 allowing kite makes from over 30 countries to showcase their colorful and creative kite designs as well as their incredible flying skills.

As we grew up, we have been experiencing this great fun event through out our lives. Why not our kids too. So we bought a kite and taught Hani how to fly it and he loved it.

Kite represent something so beautiful, raised high in the sky where the wind may take it but you are holding it tight to keep it in your hands. Life is such may there be storms and hurdles but you need to hold it tight, keep it on its track:) .

Mothers day indeed!

When I was a child I never understood so many things my parents would do to teach me the values. sometimes I'm not allowed to do somethings, sometimes I'm being grounded for not getting good grades,  But we were good kids. We used to respect our parents . We knew that if they say No its No !
But this era of kids are different even because  they are being raised in variety of cultures. In spite of the fact, every culture have their own pros and cons, It ultimately affects their society on a larger scale. Doesn't matter which society, culture or religion you belong to, mothers are the same every where:). and even this is true that when we ourselves become parents, we more likely develop a better understanding for our parents too. and yet the cycle goes on. In our times there were no specific days assigned to mothers to express our love and gratitude but these days its in Fashion! I would say Why Not? If there are other days celebrated there is no harm in celebrating a day for moms too and make them feel special:)

My day was celebrate in hani's school ,where all the mothers were invited and there were some performances and yet they made us some crafts and kids were asked to make bracelets for their moms with their moms help. and followed by a pot luck tea party. So we made rainbow cup cakes for this special day and hani helped alot in stirring the batter and filling up the tray. Then there were some adorable performances by the little ones.

Mom is someone who laughs and giggles with us, who tells us a story and rhymes with us.
She is the one who comforts us when we are sick, and kisses our boo boos to make the pain go away. She hugs us when we are terrified and comforts us when we are in pain. Her love is unconditional and yet its never too late to say I love you mama !

Love to all the moms:)

Little joys of life with the little ones!

How amazing is when your little ones understand the relations! My little ones were so exciting to celebrate their uncle's Birthday ( My brother) . His birthday was actually on a weekday and he was busy at work and my kids waited the whole week for him to come on weekend and celebrate his birthday.

Friday , my kids started to do some DIY birthday cards , they wanted to surprise him with the birthday cards and the chocolate cake!

For the self made cards we made the potatoes stamps . I carved the potatoes with two different shapes, didn't turn out to be that good but good for kids! When I was a  kid I used to paint the leaves and used to make their impressions on the paper. They used to turn out really great!
Hani was more into stamping and rohail didn't have the patience to paint or color. He loves stickers and pasting them. So I got a different job for him.

As they made the birthday cards, I baked a cake and prepared the dinner ." Spaghetti with sizzler chicken steak."  My brother when he was here my kids asked him to fill up the balloons and which he did and became a part of  arranging his own birthday party. My kids were super duper excited, they weren't even on their own birthdays. Both of my kids were crying babies when they had their first and second birthdays.

What's so good about birthdays? For many, It  has different meanings,  They add colors to life, Happy moments to cherish,  One way of telling someone you care, A reason to smile , A little joy of life!
After we were done with the celebrations and the dinner . My husband took the kids to bed and THEN............................

Vocabulary of the little ones amazes me!

I woke up today with the wet kisses all over my face. He just tried to gain my attention started kissing me and saying I lub you mama! I was like  " you love me rohail?" He said " I love me mama". and I laughed, so innocent and beautiful those expression are ! There was a time when that privilege was only shared by my husband but now its opposite. I wake up with smelly diapers and I lub u mama kin of mornings. Indeed something too good to be replaced :)........

Its amazing how kids can relate and express themselves. Like one day :
My little one when he started using some words to express himself, he used a word "NO" this is hilarious because usually we expect our baby to say "MAMA" or "BABA". So What ever the question is the answer for everything was NO! . What is your name ?"NO".Would you like to eat this ?"NO". While we were wondering how to improve this , my little one combined the" NO" word with the phrase " I don't like it! ". here goes the conversation :
Me: Rohail , its time to sleep!
Rohail cried: NOoooo!
Me: Do you want dodo( Milk)?
R: NOooooo!I Dont like it ?
Me:" Do you wana watch Cartoons?
R:Noooooooo! mamama
Me: " how about we sleep now ? and we 'll give dodo(milk) to hani."
R:" Noooooooo!
Me:" ok so do u want dodo?
R:"yes ! I love dodo!"
Its funny how they relate the words and perfectly understand the situation get along with it.
There are many researches related to babies vocabulary and  speech and their level of understanding..Psychologists at the University of Liverpool have found that children as young as two years old have an understanding of complex grammar even before they have learned to speak in full sentences.Read more here .

Kids do observe us and they do have their own way of praising .Like one day I was getting ready for one an occasion, and my 4yr old came to ask me to hurry up! he came in said" wow! mama you like a princess " I said "really" , He said" no but no you are not a princess! I said why? He said because you are a mama! well that's the truth , snap snap ** wake up you are a Mama!  stop day dreaming...The thing is he wanted to praise me and he related me to the some animated figure. Which is in his mind considered to be pretty.

This week  we were doing Sharing and Caring!
I have a 4 yr old and a 2 yr old . At times they surprise me how they are sharing and doing things together. As we shared squeezing oranges and get some fresh orange juice, it was a lovely experience.Though the little one spilled it all while playing with the umbrella. :D but its always messy with kids, So to be on the safe side make them wear the easily washable shirts.

Playing blocks may develop a variety of cognitive skills in kids. Doesn't matter what ever they build as long as they do it together and have fun ! Read more about how we can improve the intelligence in children. Even with all the sharing and caring activities, there is a moment when they gave up to be nice to each other. It always starts with my elder son, and when finally I convince him to be nice to rohail and he makes an attempt like
" Rohail I Wana kiss you!" Rohail within no time and hesitation says :"  No kiss me !" and make a frown face! Well this goes on
they laugh, giggle and fight and make up.

Feelings , expressions , anger , jealousy and affection all are found in kids too.and so in adults. It's not a sin to have those feelings but there is a difference that kids don't understand and don't know how to handle it but we being adults should know how to overcome these feelings and teach them too! Sometimes its not easy but yet not impossible!

Good Day :)
